Model 1860 Cavalry Saber. This is a nice "Untouched", and rarer than most, Model 1860 Cavalry Saber. This is the much, much  eztremely rarer than normally seen Maker of "D. J. Millard" of "Clayville, NY.". It has the much desirable war date of "1862". Matching Inspector's markings of "C.E.W." are found on the Blade as well as the Pommel Cap and "U.S. on the Ricasso. I believe there were only 10,000 D. J. Millard marked Sabers contracted for during the Civil War. That may sound like alot, but is actually very small in number compared to others. This Maker is very seldom seen and generally commands a higher premium, as well as "War dated" Sabers. This Saber saw service and usage, and your imagination can only tell where, but I bet if it could talk, it could tell "some" story. "Untouched" and "Uncleaded" condition with pretty honest to goodness aged Patina on all parts. Has Original Leather Wrap and Wire, Leather Washer, and Original Scabbard. Has clear "Markings" as can be seen. One very small ding in Scabbard, but hardly noticeable. NO nicks on Blade, and it has never been sharpened, as they never were susposed to have been. A very nice uncleaned example of a fairly rare sword with nice war dated markings.
