This is a wonderful big shell for an affordable price! It is an original Civil War 7 inch diameter cannon shell of the Dyer patent design. This is the style that is illustrated on page #225 of the heavy artillery projectile book by Jack Bell. They were fired out of the rifled 42# cannon and were almost exclusively heavily used along the Mississippi River naval engagements including Island #10 and Vicksburg. This one is missing the Sabot as is usually the case with these, but the condition of the metal is Superb. Smooth and clean. It has been unloaded and coated and is perfectly safe, inert, and ready for display. A Great Heavy Artillerly piece for your shell collection.

Confederate Made Local Ga. Coat Size Button. This is a Confederate Local made Georgia large Coat size button. Not a Yankee made blank channell back. This is the real deal. Ga. Conf. made buttons are few and far inbetween. Most you see are Pre-War Yankee made. This is a True Confederate Button. Has a much smoother dark med. Choc. brown Patina than my poor scan picture shows. Also much greater detail. I just had a hard time scanning it. The back is perfect and beautiful and has a straight as an arrow shank. Button is solid as a rock with no pushes, dents, cracks, or any problems. Found near Yorktown, Va. Actually, a really pretty button.
